The most precious spice in the world
Native from Iran, saffron grows in only a few areas world-wide and it is so precious as to deserve the name of Red Gold of Persia.
Its high preciousness is due to both the rarity of the beautiful purple flower from which it stems – the Crocus Sativus – and its method of harvest- Saffron harvesting takes place before dawn, the tiny stigmas are plucked from the flowers individually by hand to prevent damage.
It takes 150 saffron flowers to make 1g of saffron spice. This well explains its value.
The international standard ISO 3632 establishes three saffron categories of quality with Sargol classified at the top, as it is obtained from the best segment of the whole stigma.
Unlike the ordinary saffron powders for sale, Oro Rosso di Persia consists of Sargol A+ quality only, chosen by the best batches and selected by lab analysis, and it maintains its purity by preserving intact stigmas and banishing any other spice powders.
