Marron Glacé
Marron glacé is a sweet delicacy made from a chestnut that has been candied in sugar syrup and then glazed. It originated in France and is now popular in many other countries.
To make marrons glacés, chestnuts are first boiled to soften their skins, then peeled and cooked in a sugar syrup until they become tender and translucent. The chestnuts are then removed from the syrup and allowed to cool, This process is repeated several times, before they are coated with a final layer of syrup and left to dry, completely dressed in a shiny glaze. Marron glacé can be enjoyed on its own as a sweet treat, or used in a variety of desserts, such as cakes, pastries, and ice cream. They are also often given as a gift during the holiday season in many countries.
